Everton back in top four after 2 1 win over Wolves

Everton got back into the top four after overcoming an injury-hit Wolves 2 1 in their Premier League match on Tuesday.

Super Eagles wide player broke the deadlock in the sixth minute slotting home a right-footed finish after a left-footed pass down the flank from overlapping left-back Lucas Digne.

Wolves responded minutes later with Portugal international Ruben Neves scoring from close range to level the scoreline.

However, in the 77th-minute substitute, Moise Keane powered home a brilliant header bolster the Blues’ European ambitions.

The Toffees manager Carlo Ancelotti was relived with the results having started the game without first-choice striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The Merseyside Blue also were without Brazil international Richarlison on the pitch who was only fit enough for a space on the bench.

“We adapted really well to the characteristics of the players we had,” said Ancelotti.

With the win at the Molineux Stadium, Everton moved to within four points of Manchester United who overcame Burnley at the Turf Moor in their Premier League match on Tuesday.

The results meant that Everton have recorded seven wins from their last 10 away Premier League games, only drawing once and losing two.

As for Wolves coach Nuno Espiritu Santo, he has lost five of his last domestic league games, with only one draw and two draws this season.

They are also without a clean sheet in 11 league games having conceded 26 and sit 14th in the log.
