Bruno Fernandes has denied rumors that he would leave Manchester United and stated that playing for the team has always been his greatest ambition.

This summer, Fernandes has been linked to a move away from Manchester United following a dismal season in which the team placed eighth in the standings, its lowest result since the Premier League’s inception.

Leading the league in chances created, the Portugal international was a rare bright spot in a disappointing season, taking home the Sir Matt Busby Award as Manchester United’s Player of the Year for a record-breaking three times.

Fernandes, who has 15 goals and 12 assists this season, has been one of United’s few bright spots. The midfielder’s contract expires in 2026, therefore United will need to decide quickly whether to sell him or sign him to a longer term.

The player was also the mastermind as Manchester United caused an upset for rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final by winning 2-1 with Bruno heavily involved in the game.

With a convincing win over the reigning FA Cup winners, United secured their place in the Europa League for the next season under Fernandes’ direction at Wembley.

The victory comes at the conclusion of a disastrous league season for United, who placed a pitiful eighth in the Premier League—their lowest result in the top division since 1990.

During United’s troubles, there has been a great deal of criticism on the United player’s qualifications to be captain, with former midfielder Keane leading the case on several occasions. Earlier this season, the former Republic of Ireland international demanded that Fernandes lose his armband, calling the 29-year-old “not captain material.”

Wayne Rooney praises Kobbie Mainoo

Following his brilliant performance as Manchester United’s Player of the Match in the FA Cup final on Saturday, Kobbie Mainoo was hailed throughout.

Alejandro Garnacho gave the Red Devils the lead, but the 19-year-old doubled it in the 39th minute to seal the victory over Manchester City.

After making 32 appearances across all competitions and winning the first major trophy of his professional career, Mainoo had a breakout season for Man United.

The recently hired manager of the Plymouth Argyle, Wayne Rooney, a veteran of the club, was struck by Mainoo’s poised midfield display.

Mainoo scored United’s second goal, a magnificent move that split City’s defense. First, Rashford attempted a long cross-ball, which Garnacho neatly bought down before Bruno Fernandes, the club captain, could capitalize on it with a slashing run.

The 19-year-old was in acres of space when the Portuguese international then produced a brilliant no-look ball, and Mainoo simply had to guide it past Ortega for a two-goal advantage before halftime. Before Jeremy Doku’s entrance in the second half, when he and Aaron Wan-Bissaka fought for control of the touchline, Pep Guardiola’s team had failed to register a meaningful effect.

“To perform the way he did against this Manchester City team and to come into the middle of the pitch and dominate, as Kobbie Mainoo has done for large portions of this season,” he stated to BBC One.

Mainoo and Garnacho “have been the stand out players for Manchester United this season,” Rooney continued. It’s fantastic that they won the match, and I’m quite happy for them.

“The best player in the squad and the youngest,” according to Garnacho.
