If you’re a football fan the name Sabine Klopp sounds familiar to the ears because of the ‘Klopp’ in it. Unknown to many, Sabine is the ex-wife of prominent football manager Jurgen Klopp, who most recently served as the head coach of Premier League club Liverpool.

The two were married for a long time before deciding to part ways. Whereas Klopp moved on and married Ulla Sandrock who many football fans are familiar with, little info is out there about Sabine.

To start with, she was born in 1967, the same year as Jurgen Klopp. The two met during their early years at the Goethe University in Frankfurt and dated for eight years before deciding to take their relationship to the next level by tying the knot.

Sabine played a supportive role in Klopp’s career as he played football professionally for clubs such as Viktoria Sindlingen, 1. FC Pforzheim, Eintracht Frankfurt II and Mainz 05, where he spent the most of his career. The duo ended their marriage in 2001, the same year Klopp retired from professional football.

Why Did Klopp And Sabine Divorce?

While the two have never revealed the reason for their divorce, there are reports stating that the two had irreconcilable difference between them. Things went from bad to worse as they continued to disagree over issues, leading to their divorce. At the time of their divorce, they had been together for 21 years.

Sabine Klopp and his ex-husband both moved on with their lives after parting ways. Whereas the former Liverpool boss still remains on the spotlight, Sabine has kept her personal life under wraps and little is know about her.

Reports indicate that Sabine still continued with her job as social worker after ending her marriage with Klopp. Even though she keeps a low profile, she has been spotted with her son Marc a few times in public.

Does Jurgen And Sabine Klopp Have Children?

Just like many other divorced couples, Jurgen and Sabine Klopp had a child. Their son, Marc Klopp, was born in 1988 and opted to pursue a career in football just like his father did before him.

Marc began his professional career at FSV Frankfurt under-19s in 2007 playing as a defender. He then had spells at Karbener SV, SV Damstad 98 and Borussia Dortmund before taking a break from the beautiful game in 2013. He made a return three years later and signed with Berzirksliga but opted to quit football after struggling with multiple injuries.

Since ending his playing career, Marc has been seen attending matches alongside his father several times. While there are no signs showing that he would follow in his father’s footsteps once again and become a manager, Marc has ventured into business.

The 35-year-old successful entrepreneur started an agency for end of season activities for football clubs known as Onside Sports in 2017. Two years ago he co-founded ATHLIN, a company which gives advice to athletes from football and athletes from other sports.

Who Is Jurgen Klopp’s Wife? 

After parting ways with Sabine Klopp, Jurgen Klopp went ahead and married Ulla Sandrock. According to sources on the internet, Jurgen and Sandrock met while she was working as a bar waitress during the Munich Oktoberfest in 2005.

The two have since been together and are close to celebrating their 20th anniversary together. The couple have no children together but have sons from previous relationships.

Sandrock is a published author who has written books for children such as ‘Tom and the Magic Football’. She has also worked in Kenya as a teacher and nurse.

Klopp has praised his wife Sandrock in the media several times. The so-called ‘first Lady of Bundesliga’ was one of the reasons behii8nd Klopp’s success with Liverpool in recent years. In 2022, Klopp listed Ulla as one of the reasons behind his decision to sign a new deal at Anfield.
