The defender was born on November 5 1998 in Fukuoka, Japan and his journey began in his hometown, where his talent was recognized. His speed was spotted by a Sanchiku Kickers scout and was encouraged to pursue football.
At eleven years old, his skills impressed at an FC Barcelona Soccer Camp trial, leading to an academy offer but relocation challenges led to the offer being withdrawn. That did not deter his dream and he eventually joined Avispa Fukuoka’s youth system.

He graduated from the youth system and joined the senior team in 2005 but unfortunately, the team was relegated the following year, with the player solidifying his position as a central defender during this period.
His talent caught the attention of Belgium club Sint-Truiden, who made a move to Europe where he showcased his adaptability by playing both centre-back and right-back. After a successful stint in Belgium, he joined Italian Serie A Bologna where he attracted the attention of bigger clubs.
He has represented the Japanese national team at the international level on several occasions and since making his debut, he has become a mainstay in Japan’s defence. He represented Japan at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the 2022 World Cup.
