Phil Foden is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Manchester City and the England national team and played a key role in his team’s win against Manchester United on Sunday, March 3rd 2024.

Pep Guardiola has realized the potential in the player and he said that he is about to compare his skills to those of Lionel Messi, a statement that meant with his effort, he could get to Messi’s position in future.

He just got back from recovery from surgery and since then, he has been training hard, this game being the first since his comeback and has astonished many with his energy.

Since his young age, Foden was a City fan and joining the Manchester City academy was a dream come true.

He rose through the ranks of the academy impressing coaches with his talent and he made his debut for the club at the Champions League, and he played a part in Man City’s Premier League title win.

Since then, he has been a regular starter for the club and has won another Premier League title in 2022, and reached the Champions League final the previous year. Internationally, he has represented the England national team in various tournaments.

At the age of 17, he captained England’s U-17 team to victory in the FIFA U-17 World Cup, where he received the Golden Ball award, recognizing him as the tournament’s best player. He also solidified his place in the England national team, playing a role in their run to the 2022 World Cup finals.

The player was born in Greater Manchester where his passion for football developed at a young age and he was enrolled at the Manchester City academy when he was only four years old. He rose through the ranks of the academy and at sixteen, he signed his academy scholarship.

At seventeen years old, he captained the England Under-17 team to victory in the FIFA U-17 World Cup, receiving the prestigious Golden Ball award which recognized him as the tournament’s best player.

Despite limited playing time with Man City, he contributed to their success, winning the FA Community Shield and the EFL Cup for two consecutive years. In the same season, he played a part in Manchester City’s Premier League title win and also made his Champions League debut for the club.
