Marcel Sabitzer began his football journey playing for the youth team of Admira Villach. In 2001, he joined Grazer AK where he spent seven years. He then had spells at 1. Wiener Neustadter SC, Austria Wien and Admira Wacker, with whom he made his senior debut.
Sabitzer spent three years with the senior team of Admira Wacker and then secured a transfer to Rapid Wien. He spent just a season with the club and then signed for RB Leipzig.
