At age 14, Rubio became the youngest player to ever play in the Spanish ACB League and made his debut in the EuroLeague at sixteen years, making him the youngest to make a debut in the league.
The player was drafted with the fifth pick in the first round of the 2009 NBA by the Minnesota Timberwolves, making him the first player born in the 90s to be drafted by the NBA.
The Spanish team DKV Joventut had a deal to sell him out to the Timberwolves but the player backed out.
Joventut traded the rights to Rubio to FC Barcelona with the star signing a six-year contract. He later joined Timberwolves for six seasons in Minnesota before being traded to Utah Jazz.
