Cameroon’s Kepnang set for bright future in US basketball - Sports Leo

Cameroonian basketball player Franck Kepnang at 2.11m tall is set to reach great heights in the sport in the USA.

The 18-year-old is currently attending high school at Westtown, in Pennsylvania, and he has received a scholarship offer from Kansas.

Kepnang told zagsblog.com: “Just overall, I know Kansas has a really rich basketball history and they do a good job preparing their bigs for the next level. I don’t really know any specific details about them. I’m doing more and more research on them.

“They want to start a good relationship and build the relationship to see where it goes from there,” added Kepnang, who is from Cameroon.

He told Zagsblog.com he wants to see: “how a school plays through their bigs and how much they allow their bigs to do. With the new style of basketball, do they let their bigs shoot? That’s important to me because I’ve been working a lot on my shooting and getting pretty good at it.”

“I play hard every single possession and I protect the rim. Even if I’m not on the court, I’m supporting my teammates. I try to communicate with them as much as I can and I just play hard. When I get a pass and hit the rim, I finish it,” he added.

Cameroon have a rich tradition of basketball talent, with 13 players currently playing in the National Basketball Association (NBA) in the USA.

Pascal Siakam, Joel Embiid, Luc Mbah a Moute and Arnaud William Adala Moto are high profile players currently representing NBA teams.
