Kofi Kingston began training to be a wrestler in late 2005. He made his official wrestling debut the following year for Chaotic Wrestling, losing against Evan Siks. He competed primarily in the New England area but also had stints in Millenium Wrestling Federation (MWF) and the Eastern Wrestling Alliance (EWA), among other promotions. During his time on the independent circuit, Kofi was known for portraying a Jamaican character.
Kofi Kingston signed his first contract with WWE in September 2006. He was assigned to Deep South Wrestling (DSW), where he appeared for the rest of 2006 and early 2007. The Ghanaian-born wrestled made his WWE debut in 2008 and has since been a top wrestler for the promotion.
Between 2008 and 2013, Kofi Kingston became a four-time Intercontinental Champion, a three-time United States Champion and a one-time World Tag Team Champion.
