  • Milinkovic-Savic is expected to leave the Serie A side in the summer transfer window
  • Premier League side Liverpool has emerged as the most possible destination for the Serbia international

In the summer transfer window, Liverpool is reported to be the most probable destination for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

Milinkovic-Savic, 28, is in his eighth season at Lazio after joining from Genk in the 2015-16 season. Since then, he has made 330 appearances and scored 64 goals across all categories.

The Serbia international has 39 senior caps and has twice been named Lazio’s Player of the Season, but his only silverware from his time in Italy is the 2019 Coppa Italia and a brace of Supercoppa Italiana victories in 2017 and 2019.

Milinkovic-Savic is expected to seek a new home at a regular Champions League contender next season, and he will allegedly be available for a lower fee than other in-demand central midfielders.

Milinkovic-Savic will be available in the offseason for a price in the region of €50 million (£44 million), according to Calciomercato.

With only one year left on his current contract, Lazio is likely to consent to a sale if they cannot agree on an extension.

Liverpool are mentioned as the primary club with both the interest and the ability to arrange a deal, having been open about their desire to strengthen their midfield, while he is also described as a “dream” for Serie A rivals Juventus.
