Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe believes that his side should not be ruled out in this season’s Premier League title race.

“I won’t say we can’t win (the title), and I think that’s the best way to answer it.” Eddie Howe was quoted saying, as per BBC Sports.

They are just two points behind second-placed Manchester City and seven behind league-leaders Arsenal. Both Manchester City and Arsenal have a game in hand.

Newcastle United have just lost one game since the start of the 2022-23 Premier League season. And it was a 1-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield Stadium.

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers believes Eddie Howe’s side could win the Premier League this season just like Leicester City did in 2016.

“Having watched them through the season and seeing them today, they’ve got that hunger there with a point to prove. You make a great start, and that gives you the freedom that you can stay there.” Said Brendan Rodgers after his side lost to Newcastle United on Boxing Day.

Newcastle United have not finished as high as second in the Premier League since 1997.

Well, the Magpies have been impressive this season, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if they win the Premier League title. However, it won’t be an easy task considering Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City and Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are also in form.

Eddie Howe wants Newcastle United fans to believe that the team can do anything. Even though Newcastle United might not be Premier League winners come May, they might end up as cup winners of clinching a UEFA Champions League spot.

According to Eddie Howe, his side can still improve and do better.

“I still feel we can improve so much in the team. I think there are a lot of areas to improve, which is a great thing from my perspective, and I’ll never stop that search. So as long as we have a mindset that we know we can improve collectively, then hopefully the momentum can carry on.” Eddie Howe said, according to The Mirror.

Howe is proud of the efforts his players have shown since the start of this season.

Newcastle United’s talented midfielder Jonjo Shelvey is currently sidelined with a calf injury and will remain out of action for at least six weeks.

Shelvey’s absence might force Eddie Howe to get into the market this January transfer window.

Callum Wilson is not fit at the moment, and Eddie hopes he will be ready when they face Leeds. Alexander Isak could be making an appearance very soon after being out of action for more than three months.
