  • Next, he was filmed kneeing him

Samuel Eto’o is in the eye of a controversy following his alleged violent behavior against a World Cup fan in Qatar.

He was recorded having an outburst at the fan who was at the time filming him. Eto’o appeared to be enraged by something the male fan said to him.

This followed South Korea’s 4-1 loss to Brazil at Stadium 974 when the former Cameroonian international got into a fight. The fan questioned the head of the Cameroon Football Federation, and La Opinion published a video of the exchange.

Eto’o appeared to be in a happy mood as he posed for photos with eager football fans in the video’s first moments. But when the fan started questioning him with a camera in hand, things quickly got out of hand.

As his crew attempted to remove the camera from the fan, the Cameroon striker appeared to knee the male World Cup fan in retaliation. After handing a buddy his phone, Eto’o charged towards the man, striking him in the face with his right knee to knock him to the ground.

He is one of the best players of his generation, the former striker for Barcelona and Inter Milan. Before Switzerland’s 1-0 victory over Cameroon in the competition, Eto’o entered the pitch with FIFA President Gianni Infantino. Eto’o has been watching matches in Qatar.

The others who were present to see the chaos then hauled him away. According to reports, Eto’o was questioned about what caused him to respond in this way, but he would not elaborate.

What will happen next is still up in the air, as the Cameroon legend will probably be the focus of a probe. The fight came after Brazil’s victorious sail to the World Cup quarterfinals after beating South Korea.

In the seventh minute, Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr. gave them the lead; six minutes later, Neymar converted a penalty.

Later in the first half, Richarlison scored his third goal of the competition, and Lucas Paqueta added the last score to complete the sweep.

South Korea’s Paik Seung-ho managed to get one back in the second half, but it wasn’t enough, and his team was eliminated from the competition.

Eto’o’s altercation added to the world’s sharp focus on Cameroon after beating Brazil 1-0. The squad did not advance to the next round of the World Cup, but Cameroonian fans left Lusail Stadium in Qatar, knowing that their team had defeated Brazil and made history.

It was the only African team to have ever beaten Brazil in a World Cup Match. Including victories over Cameroon in 1994 and 2014; Brazil defeated African nations in all seven of their prior World Cup encounters.

Cameroon finished third in Group G, behind Brazil and Switzerland, who defeated Serbia 3-2 in the second group match last week on Friday. Despite the historic victory, Cameroon was unable to advance to the Round of 16, finishing behind Brazil and Switzerland.
