Seven-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton could stay at Mercedes for the next five years going by sentiments team principal Toto Wolff made recently.
The British driver says he still has several years left in Formula One before he retires. He assured his fans he is not about to retire anytime soon.
He was reacting to a statement by Wolff that he would stay with the German automaker for another five years. Wolff asserted that Hamilton had assured him that he had at least five more years of racing potential.
The British athlete said it was tough to predict how long he would stay in the sport but that he was undoubtedly not planning on quitting any time soon when asked if he would play for another five years.

Hamilton said he is feeling great at the moment and loves his racing career. He is hopeful that he can accomplish his goals because there is still much left to achieve.
“I am feeling good. I love what I am doing and we have a lot of work to do, a lot to achieve still. So I am not planning on going anywhere any time soon,” he told the press.
One of the reasons Hamilton won’t be retiring anytime soon is that he feels physically capable of competing and staying in the sport. The British racer also thinks it is appropriate to carry on competing as long as he can stay focused and maintain his passion for the sport.
He opines that his motivations for continuing to compete in the sport are fueled by the choices he makes. For instance, his vegan diet makes him feel better and prepares him better for all races.
“I must remain to support that continuing. Additionally, just by what I eat and how I prepare myself, I feel better than I ever have. Since I can remember, I have been doing it since I was very small. Since I was maybe five years old, and that won’t change.

The Fourth Estate dug in to find out if his zeal to stay longer had anything to do with his racing rival, Max Verstappen of Red Bull.
However, Verstappen has no bearing on his choice to stay with Mercedes longer. The 37-year-old said his life is already great with a lot happening outside the sport.
He cited his foundation as of the fine things he now has which is his main focus when racing and not Verstappen. Speaking post a spirited French GP race in July, the seven-time F1 champion dropped a hint that he is in for it beyond 2022 season.
His contract, which pays him £40 million a year, is set to expire at the end of 2023. It is near 39, the age many anticipated he would retire at. Speaking figuratively, he said that his car’s tank still has a lot of fuel left to race.
“I still feel fresh and as though I have got plenty of fuel left in the tank,” said the Briton.
