On Monday, Cameron Norrie expressed his disappointment in defeat after losing to his first Australian Open match to American Sebastian Korda.
Korda beat Norrie in three sets; 6-3, 6-0, 6-4 and secured victory at the Australian Open first match.
Speaking of the match, Norrie said that his participation in the match was little. He explained that it was partially because he was down a break to begin all three sets.
He was not able to return all the hits from Korda. Norrie acknowledged that Korda was ‘too good’.

“I was missing routine backhands, which I never miss,” he said adding that he will get better.
“I honestly can’t put a finger on it. I just need to get better.”
“I was never really in the match at all, partly down a break to start all three sets, and then I couldn’t get in the return games at all. [Korda] was too good, but I’m disappointed with my level.”
However, Norrie is in good form physically and mentally. The 26-year-old Briton achieved his first ATP Tour title at the end of the 2021 season.
He won in Los Cabos in July and followed it by a surprising Masters 1000 triumph at Indian Wells in October. These two plays propelled him to a career-high ranking of 12.
Korda, on the other hand, improved his ATP Head2Head advantage over Norrie to 2-0 over the American.
According to ATPTour, the American had another breakout season in 2021, and he is relishing the added pressure that has come with his meteoric ascent in the ATP Rankings.
Norrie was thrilled with the manner the 21-year-old shut down any opportunities he had to attack him in the first place.
He says that any time he had a chance to sort of come back, Korda served his way out of it. He admits that Korda was significantly better than him on the bigger tactic on the court.
Norrie, doesn’t care much whether or not his opponents now regard him as a prize scalp on the tour. His focus is on getting better in his game in order to be more successful.
Although the Monday match was disappointing, Norrie still holds on to the positive energy he has.
All he needs to do now is improve his standards and perform much better.
Norrie’s bid to break into the Top 10 will hinge on his ability to perform well at Grand Slams and Masters 1000 events. And the Briton may have to adjust his schedule in order to achieve that aim.
One of his strategies is to be a little bit more strategic in terms of trying to peak for the bigger tournaments. Therefore, he has to perform well in major tournaments.

When it comes to finding inspiration, he can look no further than his fellow countryman Andy Murray.
In Sydney, the former World No. 1 reached his first ATP final since 2019 – he lost to Karatsev. But Norrie is particularly impressed with his work ethic off the court, which he attributes to his father.
Norrie admires the effort Murray is putting. The Brit is also learning so much from Murray’s off-court such as how well he manages the sessions and how much he enjoys competing and paying attention to the small details.
Although Murray is also participating in the Australian Open 2022, Norrie says he enjoys watching his matches.
