Join us as we explore the life and career of Davide Ancelotti, Carlo Ancelotti’s son who is also into football management.
On Saturday night, Real Madrid made history by winning a record 15th UEFA Champions League trophy at Wembley Stadium in England. The Los Blancos beat German side Borussia Dortmund to be crowned champions of Europe. Real Madrid overcame tough challenges from the likes of Manchester City and Bayern Munich on their way to this season’s triumph.
When the stakes are high like in the Champions League, these are the moments when Carlo Ancelotti emerges among his peers. While he gets the praise for guiding Real Madrid through storms, there is one man who is always by his side but never gets acknowledged enough by the media – Davide Ancelotti.

Let me give you an instance where Davide proved to be his father’s secret weapon. When Real Madrid were playing Bayern Munich in the second leg of their semi-final tie, it seemed as if the Los Blancos were heading out with time running out.
Bayern players had gotten the better of Jude Bellingham and were also exhausting Vinicius Junior who often delivers at crucial moments. Davide realized that the team needed someone fresh from the bench to cause chaos in Bayern’s box.
He could be seen on the sidelines pestering Carlo to make one particular change. Apparently, the manager’s son had found out how Real could level the scores and eventually win this clash.
Davide wanted Joselu, who had signed with the Los Blancos on loan last summer, to be introduced. Eventually, a frustrated Carlo gave up to his son’s demands and on came Joselu in the 81st minute. Within no time, the Spaniard had put Real Madrid back on this tie after an error by Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer allowed him to pounce on the ball and score. Joselu then scored the winner to send the 14-time Champions League champions to the final where they won their 15th title.
While Carlo Ancelotti and Joselu were the talk of town after the final, majority failed to notice Davide Ancelotti who came up with the brilliant idea of introducing the Spaniard.
Is Davide Ancelotti A Coach?
Davide Ancelotti is the assistant head coach of Real Madrid, which is why he is always next to Carlo Ancelotti on the sidelines.
Similar to his father, Davide had a passion for the beautiful game from a young age and went through AC Milan’s youth system. He turned pro at Milan but left without making a senior appearance.
After a short spell at Borgomanero, he ended his playing career and opted to become a coach. He graduated with a degree in sports science at the age of 22 and then took the role of a fitness coach at Paris Saint-Germain where his father was the manager.

Davide has since been moving with his father from one club to another working close to him. Apart from PSG, other top clubs he has signed with over the years include Bayern Munich, Napoli and Real Madrid. He had his managerial debut in November 2019 when his father was suspended and he had to lead Napoli in an away match against Roma. Napoli lost the match 2-1.
