Katie Zelem is an English professional footballer who recently won an FA Cup with Manchester United. She captains the Manchester United Women’s football club and plays for the England national team.
She started her career at the Manchester United Center of Excellence before moving on to Liverpool where she won the Women’s Super League title (WSL) twice for two consecutive years.
She had a four-year tenure with Liverpool and she sought a new challenger with Italian giants Juventus where she secured another league title, before returning to England to play for Manchester United. Internationally, she represents the England national team where she plays as a midfielder.

Her career began at the Manchester United Center for Excellence where she trained before joining Liverpool as a professional. During her tenure at the club, she won numerous awards including the Women’s Super League title two times, for two consecutive years.
She sought a new challenge with Italian giants Juventus and in her first season, she won another league title, conquering Serie A. The following year, she returned to England and joined Manchester United, leading her team to the Women’s Championship title in that season.
In the next season, she was honored with the FA Women’s Championship Player of the Moth award and the Manchester United Women’s Player of the Year award the same season, and her leadership qualities earned her a captain position for her team.
Beyond the club, she represents the England national team and initially played for the team at different youth levels from U15 and Under23. She received her senior call-up in 2020 and made her debut the following year.
Katie recently earned the FA Cup with Manchester United, which was the Manchester United Women’s football team’s first major trophy. Internationally, she played a very big role in England’s journey to the 2023 World Cup finals.
Katie was part of England’s squad for UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 but she did not make it to the final squad. In 2023, she was named in England’s squad for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup later that year.

Initially, she struggled to be in relationships because she could not find a compatible partner who would understand what her career entails and the timing. Luckily, she met one who was also into the sport.
Katie is married to Chelsea goalkeeper Luke Harrison and they have been married for four years now. This makes her a sister-in-law of teammates Caitlin, Charlotte, Louise Harrison, Matthew Harrison who plays for Real Madrid and James Harrison who is the captain of Manchester United men’s team.

Katie comes from a family with a football background. Her father Alen was also a professional who played as a goalkeeper for Macclesfield while her uncle Peter was also a professional footballer who played for Burnley and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Having a family with knowledge of the sport is a source of inspiration as she can always get some assistance from the legends. Her partner Luke Harrison is also a professional footballer who plays a goalkeeper for Chelsea and having someone who can understand her is a great inspiration.

KATIE WINNING THE FA CUP
During this 2023-24 season, Katie achieved a milestone in her career when she won the FA Cup with the Manchester United women’s team. Her team secured a 4-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup final.
As the team’s captain, she lifted the trophy and it was so incredible for the team to win their first major trophy under her.
