Boston Celtics vs Pacers Game 2 was incredibly free from drama as Boston secured a 2 – 0 lead after hammering Indian Pacers 126 -110.

The Celtics sealed victory in its second game of the Eastern Conference finals on Thursday night at TD Garden Arena. Saturday hosts Game 3 of the series at the Pacers’ home court in Indianapolis.

How Was Celtics Vs Pacers Game 2?

For the first time in the 2024 playoffs series, the Boston Celtics were up 2-0 after successfully defending their home court in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals against the Indiana Pacers.

The Pacers let up a 20-0 run in the first half, allowing the Celtics, led by Jaylen Brown’s postseason career-high 40 points, to dominate the offence and take the lead for the rest of the game.

The Celtics took the lead at the end of the first quarter and the beginning of the second thanks in large part to Brown’s 20-0 run.

They continued to execute haymakers, leading by 15 points at the end of the third quarter despite the Pacers cutting their lead to as little as two points.

With a much slower start than Brown, Jayson Tatum ended up with 23 points, six rebounds, and five assists, while Derrick White recorded one of his best postseason performances with 23 points and six assists.

After making the biggest shot of his career to save the Celtics in Game 1, Brown went on to have one of his best-ever postseason games.

It happened the day after Boston guard Derrick White dubbed the fact that he just missed making the All-NBA Teams a big snub.

Brown, however, claimed that the election results didn’t inspire him any more. He went into beast mode shortly after the Celtics rebounded offensively.

He made a 3-pointer a minute into the game. His final-quarter performance of 40 points on 14 of 27 field goals tied his postseason career high and set a new record for the second-highest scoring game in Eastern Conference finals history by a Celtic.

Boston Celtics proved that they are the best offensive team in the NBA in the second half of Celtics vs Pacers Game 2. They dominated 24 minutes of play where they permeated through the Pacers’ weak rim defence.

Stunningly, they proceeded to a free-throw line and shot well from beyond the arc.

Why Did Indiana Pacers Lose to Boston Celtics in Game 2?

Sadly, the Pacers’ night ended with more losses than just a 2-0 deficit. Leading guard Tyrese Haliburton left the game in the third quarter and did not return due to a hamstring injury.

Haliburton left with 10 points on 4 of 8 shots, 8 assists, and 0 turnovers. He seemed uncomfortable in the third quarter, taking odd steps.

Rick Carlisle, Indiana Pacers coach later stated that Haliburton experienced a sharp pain in his hamstring but still tried to play at halftime.

“He gave it a shot and gave it all the effort that he could. It wasn’t going well. So the trainers determined that he needed to go to the back and get worked on,” Carlisle told CBS Sport.

It’s too soon to tell if Haliburton will participate in Saturday’s Game 3 in Indianapolis.  Still, Indiana Pacers have so much to learn for Celtics vs Pacers Game 2.

Haliburton was far less productive than he was at the beginning of the season when he attempted to play through the injury near the end of the regular season.

The Pacers are already behind 2-0, and if Haliburton is not playing at his peak, it would be very tough for them to make a comeback.

However, it’s a tough call for the Pacers especially because he missed 10 matches in January over the same Hamstring injury.

It may take longer to recover thereby raising the possibility of him missing Game 3 at home court.
