Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is dreaming of title win on the final day of the season after his side secured a crucial 1-0 victory over Manchester United.

Leandro Trossard scored the only goal of the match played at Old Trafford on Sunday as Arsenal regained the top spot on the Premier League table. The Gunners had been overtaken by Manchester City on the standings after Guardiola’s side thrashed Fulham 4-0 on Saturday.

As things stand, Arsenal are in control of the title race which will go to the final day of the season this coming weekend. The Gunners currently have 86 points, just one above Manchester City who have a game in hand.

Arsenal’s triumph will heavily rely on how City perform against Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday, May 12. The Gunners hope their neighbours and bitter rivals Spurs will do them a favour by getting a result at home against City as they also target a UEFA Champions League spot.

Kai Havertz, who has proven to be a key asset for Arteta’s squad after joining last summer from Chelsea, said he is “going to be the biggest fan of Tottenham ever” for one day as they face Manchester City.

Arsenal’s final game of the season will be against Everton next Sunday. The Cytizens, on the other hand, will play their last match against West Ham United on the same day as they aim to retain the Premier League title race.

Mikel Arteta Dreaming Of Premier League Title

After 37 Premier League games, Arsenal are back on top of the table. The Gunners are just one win way from winning their first league title in 20 years even though Man City are in a better position of winning considering their game in hand.

Nevertheless, Mikel Arteta is hopeful that his side will triumph and they’re “going to live an amazing day together” on the final day of the season. The Spanish manager was speaking after his side’s crucial victory at Old Trafford on Sunday.

“This result open another box, another window, which is the last day of the season. Fighting for the Premier League in front of our people, with our families who are there. And we’re going to live an amazing day together. I can’t wait to live that. We talked about it yesterday and let’s open that door. Football is about moments and enjoying this journey and that last day is going to be something that I don’t know how many times we’re going to live together.” Mikel Arteta is quoted by Arsenal.com.

Arsenal have given their all in the race for the Premier League this season and would have been champions if they had maintained their momentum since the start of the year and beaten Aston Villa last month. Nevertheless, they returned to winning ways in the best way possible and managed to secure victories in hazardous fixtures against Tottenham and Manchester United. Sunday’s victory at Old Trafford was just the second in 17 seasons.

The Gunners will go into the final match of the season on the back of a five-match winning streak, which gives them the momentum they need to triumph. Regardless of how things turn out on Sunday at the Emirates Stadium, Arteta and his men deserve flowers for their impressive run this campaign. They have so far recorded 27 wins, which is the most in a in a 38-game campaign.
