- Bayern Munich fans have launched a petition for the club to reconsider Tuchel
- Tuchel was fired from the club in February 2024
- Since Bayern Munich has likely appointed a new coach, the petition’s goal of keeping Tuchel might be moot
Bayern Munich’s fans were not happy with the club firing their manager Thomas Tuchel and they launched a petition urging the club to reconsider him. Tuchel was fired early this year for an underwhelming performance in the Champions League.
Tuchel has had challenging recent seasons with Bayern of underwhelming performances, especially in the Champions League and defeats against lower-ranked teams could be the main reason for the club sucking him.
His style might not have meshed up with some senior players, leading to a disconnect and it is also possible that his vision for the team’s development transfer strategy did not align with the club’s long-term plans, creating tension and a sense of needing a change in direction.
The petition gained over 11,000 signatures but this may have been overtaken by events since Tuchel was fired in February and two months down the line, the club must have appointed a new manager who is already at task.

Thomas Tuchel is a highly regarded former professional football manager. His playing career was cut short by injury, and this transitioned into his coaching career that has seen him rise to the pinnacle of the sport while managing some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

His early dreams were on-field glory and began his playing career in the youth academies with clubs like FC Augsburg and VfB Stuttgart. At 25 years old, he got a knee cartilage injury that forced him to retire prematurely.
He transitioned into coaching and his first role was in the youth setup at VfB Stuttgart. He landed his first senior role at 1. FSV Mainz 05 and under his guidance, they secured two Europa League qualifications.
He then left for Borussia Dortmund, succeeding the legendary Jurgen Klopp and during his tenure, he led them to a DFB Pokal though he was dismissed later that year when tension with the board and players arose.
The following year, he landed a job at Paris Saint-Germain where he inherited a team with overflowing talent, the ikes of Neymar and Mbappe and in his first seasons, they won two consecutive league titles.
After three seasons at PSG, he took over at Chelsea replacing manager Frank Lampard and here, his impact was immediate and this was followed by a stunning Champions League triumph, defeating Manchester City in the final.
Adding to his trophies, they also won the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup to Chelsea’s trophy cabinet within the year. However, in the following year, he was dismissed due to some issues with the board.
In 2023, he joined Bayern Munich, a team that defeated him in the 2020 Champions League final with PSG. While he secured the Bundesliga title, reports of disagreements with the board and a string of disappointing results saw him depart in February 2024.
Tuchel’s management
Despite the setbacks in his career, and especially at Bayern Munich, he remains a highly respected manager who has always delivered. He is known for his planning, tactical flexibility and ability to get the best out of his players.
