The Juventus vs Milan match played on Saturday evening at Allianz Stadium in Turin ended goalless. The Old Lady’s miserable run in the Serie A continues as that was their third consecutive draw.

Despite failing to win the match, Juve fans will be happy with the defensive masterclass shown by their team as Milan had zero shots on target.

Both clubs are now fighting for a spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League as Inter Milan already clinched the Serie A title a few days ago. Serie A will have five spots in the Champions League next season.

Massimiliano Allegri’s side currently sit third on the Serie A table with 65 points, five below second placed AC Milan. However, they will be hoping that Bologna fail to win their fixture against Udinese today because they are just three points above them. Bologna have lost just once in the last twelve Serie A matches.

How The Juventus Vs Milan Match Unfolded

Hosting AC Milan at Allianz Stadium, Juventus needed victory to return to winning ways. The Old Lady have been held to a draw three times and suffered defeat once. On the other hand, Milan also needed to win this match to get their season back in order after exiting Europe at the hands of Roma and then losing to Inter Milan in a match that saw the Nerazzurri crowned champions of the Serie A.

However, the game was played like a meaningless clash with neither goalkeeper being kept busy. In fact, the first save to be made by a goalie came in stoppage time of the opening 45 minutes when Milan’s Marco Sportiello denied Dusan Vlahovic from a free-kick.

Juve returned after the break looking more determined and created several chances in the first five minutes of the second half. Sportiello produced two stunning saves to deny Filip Kostic first and then Danilo from point-blank range.

Milan also tried creating chances but none of their efforts was on target. Whereas Massimiliano Allegri introduced Federico Chiesa and Arkadiusz Milik to strengthen his team’s attack, AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli seemed to be happy with the match ending draw as he reinforced his defence instead.

Speaking after the Juventus vs Milan match, Pioli said he was happy by the spirit shown by his team.

“We are going through a delicate moment, so reacting with this spirit of sacrifice and desire against a team that wanted to close up on us, that has the quality to cause us problems, that is all reassuring. Obviously, we can do better in our final ball, but we sacrificed ourselves to get this result and I am very happy with their performance.” Stefano Pioli is quoted by Tribal Football.

Milan will be hoping to return to winning ways next weekend when they face Genoa. The Bianconeri are without a win in their last five matches and have lost twice. On the other hand, Juventus will be clashing with AS Roma who have been on form since the sacking of Jose Mourinho.
