Daniil Medvedev outburst at the Monte Carlo Masters after losing to Karen Khachanov brought to light his unending anger issues.
The Russian has in the past admitted to struggling with his temper, particularly when things aren’t going his way. This is what happened at the Monte Carlo Open.

For the second day in a row, Medvedev lost his cool at the Monte Carlo Masters, screaming at the umpire. He told him to open his freaking eyes after losing to Khachanov in the round of 16.
With a 6-3 7-5 triumph, his fellow Khachanov advanced to the quarterfinals for the first time.
However, Medvedev was the centre of attention. In the eleventh game of the second set, he lost control and threw his racket into the back wall. He also became enraged with the umpire, and he was penalized a point.
Medvedev, the current world No. 4 lost sets after wasting a set point at 5-4 up in the second set. He became enraged with a bespectacled line judge after a disputed line call.

Daniil Medvedev Outburst Against Gael Monfils
Before he snapped at the umpire during his match with Khachanov, Medvedev had a similar moment with fellow player Gael Monfils.
The identical situation that precipitated Medvedev’s outburst after his victory over Monfils on Wednesday saw him confess to “crazy behaviour”.
This was after umpire Mohamed Lahyani instructed him to keep his voice calm and not shout at officials during the match.
In a tirade on a day later, he angrily retorted that his job is to play tennis and not referee.
“Who will take action? Yesterday the ball is out. It’s called in. This ball is out there. Who will take responsibility? It’s not my responsibility to referee the matches. It’s this guy in the glasses. He doesn’t need glasses because he doesn’t see anything,” he told the umpire during his match with Khachanov.
It is at this juncture that he told him to open his eyes and focus on the ball movement on the court.
“Open your eyes. Open your freaking eyes. Do something. It’s out.”
What Did Karen Khachanov Say About Daniill Medvedev Outburst?
Despite the display of anger by his fellow Russian, Khachanov ignored it and continued to play every game after that.
He told the press that he was aware Medvedev does not like to lose and that it takes a mental toll on him. Further, he also knew that the world No.4 doesn’t like clay courts much and it gave him hope of winning.

“Mentally, even though I’ve lost a few hard matches to him on hard courts, I know he doesn’t like to play on clay and that gives me some extra confidence,” Khachanov stated.
“Sometimes I know Daniil can lose his mind. Sometimes he uses it as a tool, but it can get out of control sometimes. I tried not to look at him or focus on him, and just serve it out.”
Khachanov will play against world No. 12 Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarter-finals of the Monte Carlo Masters.
What Did Daniil Medvedev Say After His Outburst?
Before losing all composure and launching his tirade in Monte Carlo, Medvedev claims the umpires were missing some quite obvious rulings.
In the second round of the Monte Carlo Masters on Wednesday against Monfils Medvedev said one of the Frenchman’s balls in the second set was out.
However, the chair umpire Mohamed Lahyani stopped the play, but he did not reverse the first ruling which got him angry.
The 28-year-old admitted after his victory over Monfils that he would occasionally lose his composure. The Russian added that he tried to be less angry in such circumstances.
“I mean, first of all, knowing who I am and where I come from in terms of my attitude, I’m going to get crazy sometimes on the court, whether it’s myself, my team, the crowd, umpire, I’m going to go crazy sometimes. I’m trying to work that I go crazy less and it affects my game less,” he remarked.
