The youngest active NBA player currency is GG Jackson who plays as a forward for the Memphis Grizzlies. He was drafted by the Grizzlies in the 2023 NBA draft with the 45th overall pick.

He played college basketball for the South Carolina Gamecocks where he earned a spot on the SEC All-Freshman team in 2023. Jackson signed a two-way contract, splitting time between the G League affiliate.

Due to injuries, he was called up and has impressed even scoring career-high points and this ed tj the Grizzlies signing him to a four-year contract. In his college career, he ranked as a consensus five-star recruit and was the number one player in the 2023 recruiting class.

He committed to play for the North Carolina Tar Heels after his junior year, following in the footsteps of many basketball greats. However, in a turn of events, he decommitted from the University of North Carolina, becoming the first player to do so in a couple of years, a move that created a stir in the college basketball world.

GG Jackson was born on December 17, 2004 in Columbia, South Carolina, USA to Gregory Jackson and Lakeysha Alston. His father played high school football as a defender while his mother competed in track and field during her school days.

He also has an elder sister by the name of Nyla who attended the University of South Carolina where she plays collegiate basketball, an indication that basketball is a sport that runs in the family.

His father being a pastor has held his faith high and it has played a big role in his career. He enjoys playing the drums, an interest he showed at the age of about three years.

The player reclassified to the recruiting class of 2022 making him eligible to play college basketball a year earlier. He chose to play near home, eventually joining the University of South Carolina Gamecocks, a decision that made him the highest-ranked recruit in the University’s history.

During his freshman year, he impressed with his scoring prowess leading the team in scoring 17 times, and even secured a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team. With his impressive college performance, NBA scouts took notice and was selected in their 2023 NBA draft by the Memphis Grizzlies.

He was on a two-way contract and split his time between the Grizzlies and their NBA G League affiliate team. Unfortunately, injuries took a toll on him , was called up to the main roster, where he seized the opportunity and impressed with his skills.

In February this year, he had a breakout month and his performance convinced the Grizzlies to sign him for a four-year contract.
