Manchester City youngster Oscar Bobb has signed a new three-year contract with the Premier League giants. Bobb, who joined City in the summer of 2019, has extended his stay at the Etihad Stadium until 2029. His previous deal was due to expire in June 2026.

The 20-year-old is one of the best young players at City and was part of the squad that won the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup towards the end of last year.

“I am very proud and honoured to have signed my new contract with City. It’s an incredible environment and the best possible place to be for a young player – I have already learnt so much from Pep, his coaching staff and my team-mates. To know I’m going to be here at the Club until 2029 means everything to me. Now I just want to focus on continuing to further my development.” Oscar Bobb is quoted by Manchester City’s official website.

Oscar Bobb has made 16 appearances for Manchester City this season across all competitions. The Norwegian, who scored a crucial winner for the Cytizens last month as they beat Newcastle United in the Premier League, has been rising through the ranks over the past four and a half years.

When he joined City in 2019 from his native Norway, he had already been identified as one of the future stars. The youngster was part of City’s under-18 team that won the 2020 FA Youth Cup and the 2020-21 regional and national Premier League titles.

Bobb then progressed to City’s Elite Development Squad where he was named the EDS Player of the Year after helping the side triumph in Premier League 2 in his debut season. He was voted the EDS Player of the Year once again the following season after leading the team to a third successive Premier League 2.

After being included in Manchester City’s squad for last year’s pre-season games, Bobb was officially promoted to the senior team at the start of the season. He has since continued his development and established himself as a very important member of the squad.

Grealish To Improve If He Is To Return To City’s Starting XI

Meanwhile, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has said that Jack Grealish will only return to the starting XI on a regular basis if his performance improves.

Grealish, who joined City from Aston Villa, played a significant role as the Cytizens won the Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League last summer. He started 41 games but has been struggling this campaign, starting only 19, including seven in the Premier League, one in the Community Shield, the European Super Cup and two at the Club World  Cup.

His last start at a Premier League match was back in December against Sheffield United and he was replaced by Oscar Bobb shortly after the break.

He is the same player, he has the same manager, and the way we play has not changed. It’s just the way he has performed. That’s the difference. I said from day one, we need him. He has a special quality for our team. But it depends on him. Hopefully he can do a good last three months.” Pep Guardiola said, as per BBC Sports
