Ronwen Williams is a South African professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for the South African club Mamelodi Sundowns and captains the South African national team best known as Bafana Bafana.
He was born and raised in South Africa where he started his youth career with SuperSport United where he attracted the attention of Tottenham Hotspur scouts in an international youth tournament.
Following the scouting, he was invited for trial at Tottenham’s academy and upon success, he was offered a spot in their youth training program. He spent six years training at the academy though he did not make it to the senior team.
At the age of 20 years, William made his professional debut for SuperSport United and he became the team’s first-choice shot-stopper. During his tenure with the club, he lifted numerous trophies including the Premier Soccer League title three times, Nedbank Cup two times and MTN8 two times.
Williams joined Mamelodi Sundowns, another South African powerhouse, seeking new challenges and experiences.
His consistent performances earned him the PSL Goalkeeper of the Season award, which solidified his status as one of the best South African goalkeepers. He however received his first call-up to the South African national team, gradually becoming the starting goalkeeper.
The 32-year-old captained the Bafana Bafana team during the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations where his performance saved four penalties in the quarter-final shootout.

The player was born on January 21 1992 in Port Elizabeth, South Africa to parents of the country’s descent Mr. Williams and Hazel. His family has a sporting background as his father and uncle were both involved in sports and inspired him to pursue football.

He started playing locally and was enrolled in a local academy where he was spotted by Tottenham scouts who invited him for trial, later came back to S.A and made his senior debut for SuperSport.
The goalkeeper is family-oriented with siblings and has a close tie with his mother. He is reportedly dating a lady by the name of Roshni and they have a child together.
