Jean Michael Seri is an Ivorian professional footballer who plays as a central midfielder for EFL Championship club Hull City and the Ivory Coast national team.
His career began back home on joining ASCE Mimosa academy and established himself as a key player, winning the Ivorian Ligue 1 for two consecutive years and his performance caught the attention of European scouts, his next move was in Portugal.
When he moved to Portugal, Seri joined Pacos Ferreira and his performance earned him a move to France where he joined OGC Nice. His performance attracted interest from the Premier League and he joined Fulham where he adapted well to the English game.
Unfortunately, Fulham was relegated and Seri was on loan to Galatasaray in Turkey and later to Girondins de Bordeaux in France. In 2022, he signed for Hull City Championship and has become a central figure for the club.
Seri represents the Ivory Coast national team internationally and was part of their squads for the 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2024 Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.

The midfielder was born on July 19 1991 in Grand-Bereby, Ivory Coast to parents of the country’s descent. His journey to footballing stardom is a testament to his talent. In his youth, Seri played on the dusty pitches of his hometown and from that, he acquired the nickname ‘Street footballer’.

His talent was evident and led him to Abidjan powerhouse ASEC Mimosa where he established himself as a key player and won the Ivorian Ligue 1 for two consecutive years. This performance was his career breakthrough as he travelled widely to Europe, France, Portugal, Turkey and England where he has played professionally for several teams.

The midfielder joined Hull City in August 2022 from Girondins de Bordeaux, a French club. Since joining the club, Seri has made over 62 appearances across all competitions and scored 1 goal and 2 assists, and this has established him as a key figure in the midfield.

His experience, leadership and technical ability have made him a key player and his passing range contributes defensively to provide experience for younger players. Though Hull City hasn’t consistently performed well in the Championship, he has not replicated his high scoring rates from previous seasons, his overall contribution remains valued and this puts him in the challenge of helping Hull City push for promotion or maintain a stable position in the championship.

The player has a long and distinguished career with the Ivory Coast national team. He made his senior debut for the team in 2012 at the age of 21 years. Though he was not a regular starter, he established himself as a valuable squad member.
The 32-year-old participated in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations though he didn’t feature extensively. In 2017, he played at the AFCON starting two games and appeared in three matches in 2019.
In the recent 2024 AFCON, he started all four matches in the knockout stages of their third title.
