Born in Berlin, the young player made his name in the youth ranks of local side Hertha Berlin, where he joined at the age of eleven years. After training for four years, he appeared for the Hertha Berlin U17 and performed exemplary well, a performance that attracted several scouts.

In the regular season, made fifteen appearances and provided eight assists making him the joint most creative player in the young Hertha team’s region division.

His team won and they progressed to the semi-finals of the German U17 championship that season. In this season, he was named the best player of the tournament.

The 18-year-old was selected by Bayern in their U19 team and during his debut, he scored a goal against Eintracht Trier and was then promoted to the reserves in the next season.
