West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paqueta has been sidelined with a calf injury which he picked up during the warm-up before West Ham’s win over Arsenal in late December. Paqueta played in that game but had to come off in the first half. The injury re-aggravated in the FA Cup match against Bristol City on January 7, 2024, which lasted fourteen minutes before being substituted.

The latest report suggests that the midfielder could be out for about two months, probably until February. This is considered a blow for West Ham as currently, their player Mohamed Kudus is out with Ghana playing at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The player’s absence leaves a void in West Ham’s midfield since he has been a creative force who has contributed significantly across all competitions this season. Initially, there were rumors that he might leave West Ham during the transfer window though he is on a contract with the club till 2027.

Lucas Tolentino Coelho de Lima is a Brazilian professional footballer who is known as one of the best midfielders for West Ham United. Born in Rio de Janeiro, the player joined CR Flamengo’s youth academy when he was very young and was the smallest among his teammates.

His talent shone through during the 2016 Copa São Paulo de Juniores, the most prestigious Brazilian youth tournament, which led the Flamengo team to a glorious victory.
