FC Bayern Munich have confirmed the signing of Sacha Boey from Turkish club Galatasaray on a permanent deal. Boey has signed a four-and-a-half year deal with Bayern, which means he will be with the Bundesliga giants until the summer of 2028.
According to sources, Boey arrived after lengthy negotiations between Bayern Munich and Galatasaray. For Boey’s transfer, it was agreed that Bayern pay an initial fee of £30 million plus £5 million and 50% of any future profit received from selling the 23-year-old.

Boey is the most expensive January signing in Bayern Munich’s history. Speaking after signing the contract, Boey said that joining the Bundesliga club was a dram come true.
“This is a dream come true for me. It’s an honour for me to get to play for such a big club like Bayern. I’m really looking forward to my new team and getting to play with all these great players in the future. As a player, I’m a defender who likes to attack, just as happy being involved up front as in defence.” FC Bayern Munich’s official website quotes the 23-year-old.
Boey will wear the squad number 23 at Bayern, which was last worn by Daley Blind during the 2022-23 campaign. The squad number has also been occupied by Chilean footballer Arturo Vidal and Canadian legend Owen Hargreaves.
Bayern Munich badly needed to reinforce their defence after selling Benjamin Pavard to Inter Milan and loaning out Josip Stanisic to Bayer Leverkusen without replacement. Noussair Mazraoui and Dayot Upamecano are out due to injury.
After signing Eric Dier from Tottenham earlier this month, Bayern still needed to add a new defender to their squad. They initially targeted Kieran Trippier of Newcastle United but cancelled negotiations after the Premier League side rejected their offer of £15 million. The Bavarians also had interest in PSG’s Nordi Madueke but opted to pursue Galatasaray for Boey after the Parisians asked for a significant fee.
Who Is Sacha Boey?
Boey is a French right-back born in the Parisian suburb of Montreuil. He began his football journey at Romainville and Red Star FC before progressing to the youth ranks of Rennes in 2014. After impressing at the academy, he was handed his Ligue 1 debut on 5 May 2019 as an 18-year-old against Toulouse.
Boey spent the 2020-21 season on loan at Dijon to where he got regular playing time, making 24 appearances in Ligue 1. He then joined Turkish club Galatasaray on a permanent deal where he began maturing into one of the finest defenders in the world.
The Frenchman became a first choice right back at Galatasaray last season, helping the club win the Super Lig title. He scored one goal and recorded four assists in 31 league matches.

Impressing Bayern
Sacha Boey caught the attention of Bayern Munich this season during the UEFA Champions League clash between the Bavarians and Galatasaray.
“We’re pleased to have signed a young player with a lot of potential on a long-term deal in Sacha Boey. He performed really well in both Champions League games against us. It means we haven’t just improved our squad depth but also added further quality.” Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen is quoted by the club’s website.
But despite Boey’s impressive performance against the likes of Kingsley Coman and Leroy Sane, he couldn’t help Galatasaray proceed to the knockout stages of the Champions League. Nevertheless, he will still enjoy playing Champions League football at Bayern.
Bayern Munich’s sporting director Christoph Feund described Sacha Boey as a quick and physically strong right-back who will quality in the club’s defence.
