Career
From his childhood days, Unai Simon was more inclined to sporting activities than anything else. Simon spent long hours playing against other kids within his age group. He started his youth career at his hometown club Aurrera Vitoria in 2010.
One year later, he joined the Athletic Bilbao youth system where he continued with his development. Simon made his debut as a senior with Basconia during the 2014-15 season while on loan at the farm club in the Tercera Division.
On 8 June 2016, Unai Simon was promoted to the reserves who had been relegated to Segunda Division B. He immediately became a starter, making 29 appearances during the campaign. He received his first call to the senior team in June 2017 for the pre-season games.

In July 2018, Unai Simon was loaned to Segunda Division side Elche CF. However, he was recalled by Athletic on 15 August following the departure of Kepa Arrizabalaga and Iago Herrerin’s injury. Simon made his La Liga debut five days later, starting in his team’s 2-1 victory over CD Leganes.
