Career
Robert Sanchez began playing football as a small boy and spent his early career playing for local clubs such as Escuela de Futbol de Santa Ana, Cartagena FC and Ciudad Jardin. In 2010, he joined the youth team of La Liga club Levante where he continued to develop.
Sanchez moved to England in 2013 at the age of 15 and joined the academy of Brighton & Hove Albion. He signed his first professional contract with Brighton in June 2015.
In April 2018, Robert Sanchez signed a new deal with Brighton and then went on loan to Forest Green Rovers during the 2018-19 transfer window. He made his debut for Rovers in the opening match of the season at Grimsby which ended in a 4-1 win for his side.
Sanchez joined Rochdale on loan for the 2019-20 season and made his debut in a 3-2 away win over Tranmere Rovers. On 1 November 2020, the Spanish goalkeeper eventually played his first match for Brighton in a 2-1 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur.

Sanchez became the number one keeper for Brighton but lost his position in the second half of the 2022-23 season to Jason Steele. On 5 August 2023, the Spanish goalkeeper signed a seven-year deal with Chelsea. He is the Blues’ first-choice keeper following Kepa Arrizabalaga‘s loan move to Real Madrid.
Robert Sanchez received his first call-up to the Spanish national team in March 2021 for FIFA World Cup qualification matches against Greece, Georgia and Kosovo. However, he had to wait until 5 September 2021, to make his debut. The goalkeeper has so far earned two caps.
