Kalifa Coulibaly is a Malian professional player who plays as a forward for the French club Quevilly-Rouen and the Mali national team. Born in Bamako, he played for the Malian club Djoliba Athletic Club before moving to Belgium where he joined Sporting Charleroi, spent two seasons with the club and then moved to club KAA Gent.

After a season with KAA Gent, the striker then moved to French club Nantes where he spent three seasons, made over one hundred appearances in all competitions and scored 24 goals. Coulibaly signed a three-year contract with French club Quevilly-Rouen Metropole with a one-year option for a further year on the contract meaning, the club can extend his contract for another year if they wish. Coulibaly has played for the Mali national team and since then, he has been capped 31 times by the national team and has scored 6 goals. He was also a member of the Mali squad that participated in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

Coulibaly started his career as a defensive midfielder and played in that position for his youth club Djoliba Athletic Club, and even started his professional career as a defensive midfielder for Sporting Charleroi and then transitioned to a more attacking role, and has been a forward ever since.

Coulibaly’s Personal Life

Kalifa Coulibaly was born on August 21 1991 in Bamako, where he grew up playing street football and developed his passion for the sport. At fifteen years old, he was scouted by a local club Djoliba AC and joined their youth academy where he had a successful career, and made his senior debut for the club, quickly establishing himself as a key player for the team and helping them win the Malian Premier League.

After that, he moved to Belgium and joined Sporting Charleroi where he spent two seasons. Since then, he has played for KAA Gent, FC Nantes and Quevilly-Rouen where he plays to date. He is also a member of the Mali national team.

Coulibaly Football Career

Coulibaly is a Malian professional football player who plays as a forward for French club Quevilly-Rouen and the Mali national team. He started his career as a defensive midfielder and played in that position for his youth club Djoliba Athletic Club in Mali for six seasons, making a total of 96 appearances for the club, scoring 17 goals.

He then joined Belgian club Sporting Charleroi and also played as a defensive midfielder for the club, made a total of 49 appearances and scored 6 goals. After two seasons at the club, the player moved to another Belgian club KAA Gent and continued playing as a defensive midfielder for the club, making a total of twenty appearances for a span of one season before transferring to club Nantes.

The forward then joined French club FC Nantes and this is where he made a transition from playing as a midfielder after getting a more attacking role and became one of the club’s most prolific goalscorers. At Nantes, he made over one hundred appearances and scored 24 goals.

His transition from a midfielder to a forward is a testament to his versatility and ability to adapt to different roles.

In 2020, Coulibaly signed a three-year contract with French club Quevilly-Rouen Metropole with a one-year option for a further year on the contract meaning, the club can extend his contract for another year if they wish. The forward player represented Mali at the senior international level and has been a regular member of the Mali national team since making his debut.

He was part of the Mali national team that participated in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations where Mali reached the quarter-finals. He was also selected for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations which was postponed to January 2024 due to adverse weather concerns in Cote d’Ivoire.
