Bayern Munich defeated Galatasaray 3-1 on Tuesday, extending their unbeaten streak in the Champions League group stage to 17 games. Jamal Musiala produced an assist and a goal.
Early on, Musiala charged into the middle of the field to assist Kingsley Coman in scoring the game’s first goal. Later, Argentina forward Mauro Icardi won and successfully scored a penalty to tie the game.
Musiala, who is only 20 years old, assisted Harry Kane in scoring before the England captain returned the favor by assisting the German midfielder in scoring. Six-time champions Bayern entered the match wanting to defend their impressive recent Champions League record.
In their previous 36 group stage matches, including 19 away matches, the German champions had gone undefeated.

Galatasaray, the only Turkish side to have won a major European championship after winning the Europa League in 2000, were also on a roll before Bayern’s arrival, having gone 17 games without a loss.
With his fourth goal in his last three games for the visiting Germans, Coman gave Bayern the greatest possible start by converting a precise Musiala pass after only eight minutes.
Icardi, an Argentine striker for Galatasaray, was the subject of much pre-game discussion.
Joshua Kimmich’s careless lunge in the box following Icardi’s quick introduction resulted in a penalty after 29 minutes.
The forward simply chipped a Panenka in to equalize, forcing Bayern goalkeeper Sven Ulreich to dive.
Minutes before the interval, Icardi had another fantastic opportunity to give the home team the lead, but Bayern defender Kim Min-Jae intervened and stopped him from scoring.
The home team increased their intensity as the second half went on in an effort to score a winner, but the visitors would score next when Kane backheeled in another Musiala pass.
Kane has scored 11 goals in 12 outings for Bayern in all competitions since joining from Tottenham in the summer.
Then, to end any uncertainty about the outcome of the game, Musiala scored by blasting a Kane assist past goalkeeper Fernando Muslera.
Bayern has now gone the whole group stage without dropping a game since September 2017.

Tuesday’s Champions League Group B home match ended in a 1-1 draw as Lens attacker Elye Wahi overturned Johan Bakayoko’s goal for PSV Eindhoven.
With five points from three games, Lens, the 2022–23 Ligue 1 runners-up, are in second place in the group, one point behind leaders Arsenal, who defeated Sevilla 2-1 in the other group match.
PSV, who salvaged a 2-2 draw against the Spanish team at home after falling to them 4-0 in London on the opening night, is still in last place with two points.
The first half saw little action for spectators as both teams made cautious starts. PSV winger Hirving Lozano struck the outside of the post just before the half-hour mark.
After the interval, Belgium’s Bakayoko gave PSV the lead with a spectacular long-range goal, but in the 65th minute, Wahi equalized for the home team with a close-range volley.
Lens has never advanced past the group stage of the Champions League, and this is their first appearance since the 2002–03 season.
