Middlesbrough extended their impressive streak in the Championship, securing a 2-1 victory over Norwich City at Carrow Road to notch up their sixth consecutive league win.
The game took a definitive turn when Sam Greenwood swiftly netted in the first minute of the second half, setting the stage for a confident performance from Michael Carrick’s rejuvenated Middlesbrough side. A late strike from substitute Sammy Silvera in stoppage time sealed the well-deserved win for Boro, despite Jonathan Rowe’s last-minute consolation goal for the home team, which marked his eighth goal of the season.
The defeat marked Norwich’s second consecutive loss on home turf, signaling a concerning downturn for the team following a promising start to the season.

Middlesbrough initially had the upper hand after a slow start, dominating a scrappy first half and creating several promising chances as the game progressed past the thirty-minute mark. A close-range header from Josh Coburn was blocked by George Long, the Norwich goalkeeper, following a high punch from Jonny Howson, while Lukas Engel narrowly missed the target after a brilliant crossfield pass from Isaiah Jones set him up for a potential goal.
A few minutes later, the visitors came close to scoring again as the hosts carelessly surrendered possession deep in their own half, allowing Hayden Hackney to charge towards goal. Although Hackney’s shot managed to evade Long, defender Shane Duffy was well-placed to block the attempt.
Despite an early shot on target from Marcelino Nunez, Norwich struggled to mount a serious offensive threat, despite maintaining possession. The first half ended with some fans expressing their discontent with boos aimed at the home team.
The atmosphere soured further for the home fans as Boro swiftly took the lead just 33 seconds into the second half, capitalizing on a poorly executed pass from defender Dimi Giannoulis. Hackney intercepted the loose ball and set up Coburn for a straightforward finish, putting Middlesbrough in the driving seat.
Norwich attempted to rally, with Nunez hitting the crossbar after a pass from Giannoulis and Ben Gibson narrowly missing a header against his former club. Middlesbrough, however, adopted a defensive stance, opting to absorb the mounting pressure and launch occasional counter-attacks. As the second half progressed, Norwich struggled to create clear goal-scoring opportunities.
In the second minute of stoppage time, Middlesbrough sealed the victory as substitute Silvera seized upon a loose ball, dribbled into the area, and calmly slotted a low shot into the bottom corner. Despite Rowe’s late strike from a challenging angle, Norwich ran out of time to mount a successful comeback.
