- The Premier League transfer window just closed with a record-breaking amount of money used by clubs.
- We look at the players that have fallen out of favor with their clubs.
After the summer transfer market ended, there was no further business for Premier League teams, which means that a number of players may have to wait out a season.
Several well-known players may be destined to sit out most of the upcoming season due to club disfavor and a lack of interest from competing teams.
We look at the players that have fallen out of favor with their clubs.
Harry Maguire

Despite several signs that the defender is not in Erik ten Hag’s plans, Harry Maguire is still a member of Manchester United. Ten Hag acknowledged Maguire, at least in public, but his dismissal as club captain and a return of only eight Premier League starts last season is a glaring indication of his present status at Old Trafford.
The 30-year-old will compete in another season as a backup option despite his recent struggles with form and confidence. During the summer, West Ham and Maguire reached an agreement to work together on a signing, but the deal fell through, and the Hammers moved on to other targets.
Before the center-back had even started a single Premier League game this year, Gareth Southgate announced that Maguire would be joining his England team for the September international break. While Maguire’s time on the sidelines must continue if he is to keep his regular position with the national team, Southgate has stayed steadfast in his support of a defender who has excelled for the Three Lions in recent big tournaments.
With Levi Colwill and Marc Guehi among those vying for a spot with England with the European Championship rapidly approaching next summer, Maguire would need to reevaluate his future in the winter window if his minutes do not rise.
Eric Dier
It is believed that Eric Dier has been told he may leave Tottenham, but despite interest from other teams, a transfer didn’t happen before the deadline.
The 29-year-old was reportedly considered by Fulham and Bournemouth as part of prospective trades involving Tosin Adarabioyo and Lloyd Kelly, respectively, while Bayern Munich was connected to a surprise transfer.
In his tenth season with the North Londoners, Dier has been with Spurs since joining from Sporting Lisbon in 2014. However, since Ange Postecoglou became manager, Dier has slipped down the pecking order and has yet to play for the team this year.

The absence of Donny van de Beek from the Manchester United team has become so routine that it is no longer news. Three years ago, the midfielder was one of Europe’s most sought-after center midfielders, but at Old Trafford, his career has since stalled.
subsequently joining from Ajax, the Red Devils have spent over £5.8 million for each Premier League start made by Van de Beek, who has subsequently failed to make an impression and is now a benchwarmer. Erik Ten Hag’s hiring as the club’s manager failed to revitalize his career there, and the 26-year-old hasn’t been a member of a matchday squad this year.
With all due respect, the fact that Galatasaray and Lorient expressed interest in signing Van de Beek on a loan during the summer shows just how much his status has dropped since excelling for Ten Hag’s Ajax squad that advanced to the Champions League semifinals in 2018/19.

Since the end of the transfer period last summer, Chelsea has spent more than £1 billion on talent, a frantic talent binge that has smashed records and brought about significant upheaval at Stamford Bridge.
After an outstanding initial season at Brighton, Marc Cucurella was brought in during the first transfer window under Todd Boehly’s leadership for a sum of £63 million. However, after moving from the south coast to west London, the Spaniard failed and is now out of favor with the new manager, Mauricio Pochettino.
There doesn’t seem to be a clear position for Cucurella at Chelsea with Ben Chilwell already established as a key player and Levi Colwill integrating as a left-sided center-back. When the transfer window was about to close, Manchester United spoke with the Blues about a potential loan move, but instead they turned to Regulion.
