Jones attended Steinert High School in Hamilton Township, New Jersey where he played college basketball and was a two-star recruit.

He committed to play at Rutgers for two seasons before he transferred to Duke where he also played for two seasons and was a key member of the national championship team.

Dahntay Jones was born on May 2 1980 in Trenton, New Jersey to Lavall Jones and Sheila Jones. His father is a former basketball player who played in the Continental Basketball Association and is also a founder of the Dahntay Jones Foundation.

The foundation’s main initiative is to provide scholarships to underprivileged youth while his mother Sheila is a homemaker. His younger brother Lavall Jr. is a former basketball player who played college basketball at Florida Gulf Coast University.

Lavall Jr. is currently a sports director at a local radio station in Florida.

Jones played basketball in high school and proceeded to the University where he also played. He then played professionally for several teams and was drafted into the NBA in the 2003 draft by the Boston Celtics. He played for the NBA for fourteen seasons where he had a successful career.

The player is married to Valeisha Butterfield Jones and together the couple is blessed with two children, Dahntay Jr. and Dillon.

He is currently an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Clippers.

Dahntay is a former NBA professional player who played for fourteen seasons before his retirement and is currently an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Clippers.

The player started playing college basketball for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights and the Duke Blue Devils.

He then played in the NBA where he was drafted by the Boston Celtics as a small forward and a shooting guard, and won an NBA championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

In his fourteen-year career in the NBA, Jones played for the Boston Celtics, Memphis Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings, Denver Nuggets, Indiana Pacers, Dallas Mavericks, Atlanta Hawks, Los Angeles Clippers, Cleveland Cavaliers and the NBA G League.

Dahntay retired from playing basketball in 2017 and joined the Clippers coaching staff as a player development and video coach. A year later, he was promoted to assistant coach.
