- Kapaito played in Ethiopia for the last two seasons
- He was the 2020-21 Golden Boot and MVP winner
- The brewers have signed six players so far
FKF Premier League side Tusker FC has completed the signing of striker Eric Kapaito, who has penned a one-year contract with the brewers, arriving as a free agent after the end of his contract with Ethiopian premier League side Arba Minch FC.
Kapaito put pen to paper on his contract at Ruaraka on Wednesday evening, and was officially introduced to his new teammates on Thursday, after which he had a light training session.
The forward left the country at the start of the 2022-23 season, signing with EPL side Minch, but left at the end of his contract with the club having been relegated.
He had closed in on a move to Zambia with top tier side Zanaco FC this pre-season, but could not have an agreement with the club despite having jetted into the country for talks and to start training with the team.
Zanaco had already announced him as their new player, but after failing to land an agreement, he came back home.
“I am delighted to join Tusker because this is one of the biggest clubs in the country. When I had an opportunity to come back home and pick a team, it wasn’t a hard choice to pick on Tusker. This is a club that has won titles and will win more, and I am more than happy to be part of it,” Kapaito said upon his unveiling.
Help the team achieve targets

He added; “My target is to help the team achieve its targets and that is to win trophies. I was the MVP and top scorer the season before I left and I want to pick up from there. I want to score double digit goals this season.”
Kapaito becomes Tusker’s sixth signing of the pre-season window. Others who have been signed include Ugandan winger John Byamukama, Joseph Mwangi and James Kibande from Nzoia Sugar, Fabien Adikiny from Murang’a Seal while goalkeeper Edwin Simiyu was promoted from the Youth Team.
His arrival will be a massive boost for the brewers lacking in senior players after most of them left at the end of the season.
Tusker are in need of a proven goal scorer to aid their push to reclaim the title, having greatly missed Ibrahim Joshua last season. The Tanzanian international struggled with a nagging knee injury that eventually kept him out for the rest of the season.
Quench thirst for goals

With a month or two still left for him in recovery, the brewers have snapped up Kapaito to quench their thirst in front of goal, and he will also offer competition to Deogratious Ojok and Eric Otieno.
The brewers will open their Premier League campaign next weekend with a trip down to Mombasa to take on Bandari FC, and they hope for a positive start after a heartbreaking end to last season.
Robert Matano’s men lost the league title on the last day by a point to Gor Mahia FC, and lost the final of the FKF Cup by a solitary goal to Kakamega Homeboyz.
