Education Background
Okwi attended a Catholic boarding school in Masaka, Uganda known as St. Henry’s College Kitovu where he was a standout athlete excelling in football, basketball and athletics.
Upon his graduation from St. Okwi joined Simba SC youth academy in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania where he received some formal education in football.
He then moved to Qatar joining the Aspire Academy, a sports academy that trains young athletes from around the world.
Personal Life
Emmanuel was born to his Ugandan parents on December 25 1992 in Kampala, Uganda in a very humble background and he is a devout Muslim believer.

Just like the little boys in the neighbourhood, Okwi started playing football for fun and it was later discovered that he had a talent for the sport quickly rising through the youth ranks in the Ugandan teams.
He got an invitation from Aspire Academy in Qatar where he spent one year receiving training in football, academic and life skills. On graduating from the academy, the left winger returned to Uganda and joined SC Villa helping the team win the league title in 2010.
A year later, he moved to Tanzania to play for Simba Sc and won the Premier League For two consecutive years, also won the CECAFA Cup with the team.
He is a regular player for the Uganda national team and has made several appearances for the team.
The player is married to his wife Nakalegga, whom he met while schooling at St. Henry and they have a daughter Angella. The wife is a business lady who owns a fashion boutique in Kampala and is so supportive of her husband’s career.
Career
Having played for SC Villa in Uganda and then to Tanzania to play for Simba SC, Okwi moved to Egypt to play for El Ittihad Alexandria where he was suspended for assaulting a referee.
On his suspension, Okwi joined Danish Club SonderjyskE.
He then returned to Uganda to play for SC Villa before moving to Tanzania to play for Simba SC for a second Spell. A year later, he moved to Iraq to play for Al Zawraa before moving to Erbil SC.
Okwi has been a regular player for the Uganda national team and has since scored 9 goals in 77 appearances. He was the top scorer at the CECAFA Cup in 2011.
