- The Cavaliers were unbeaten en route to the finals and were the favourites
- Isaiah Mobley scored 28 points to lead the Cavaliers to the Summer League title
The Cleveland Cavaliers clinched the NBA 2K24 Summer League championship with a dominant 99-78 victory over the Houston Rockets, led by Isaiah Mobley’s outstanding performance. Mobley put up an impressive 28 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, earning him the game’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) title. The victory marked the Cavaliers’ first Summer League title since the tournament format was introduced in 2013.
Despite not being selected for the all-tournament team, Mobley expressed his focus on what he can control, emphasizing his preference for the championship win over individual accolades. Alongside Mobley, Sam Merrill contributed significantly to the Cavaliers’ success, scoring 27 points, including 6 three-pointers out of 12 attempts. Emoni Bates also added 19 points to the Cavaliers’ victorious effort, finishing their undefeated Summer League campaign with a 6-0 record.

On the Rockets’ side, Nate Hinton led the team with 18 points and 10 rebounds, followed by Cam Whitmore with 14 points, Trevor Hudgins with 13 points, and Fletcher Magee with 10 points. Whitmore’s stellar performances throughout the tournament earned him the tournament MVP award.
Mobley, who was a second-round pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, showcased his skills and determination throughout the Summer League, ultimately guiding the Cavaliers to the championship. In their semifinal match against the Brooklyn Nets, Mobley scored 23 points, including the game-winning shot in overtime, securing their spot in the title game.
Merrill, who made the all-tournament first team, had a history of success at the Thomas & Mack Center. In 2020, his clutch three-pointer with 2.5 seconds left secured the Mountain West tournament championship for Utah State, just before the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted college basketball.
The championship game saw the Cavaliers seize control early, taking a commanding 17-4 lead. The Rockets responded with a 19-4 run, narrowing the margin to 41-38 late in the first half. However, the Cavaliers dominated the second half, opening with an 11-0 run to establish a 62-44 lead, ensuring a decisive victory.
The all-tournament first team, alongside Whitmore and Merrill, included Keyonte George (Utah Jazz), Orlando Robinson (Miami Heat), and Hunter Tyson (Denver Nuggets). Meanwhile, the second team comprised Emoni Bates, Max Christie (Los Angeles Lakers), Javon Freeman-Liberty (Chicago Bulls), Xavier Moon (LA Clippers), Jabari Smith Jr. (Houston Rockets), and Jalen Wilson (Brooklyn Nets).
