On Friday night, it was revealed that NBA free agent forward Darius Bazley has reached an agreement to sign a one-year contract with the Brooklyn Nets. The news was confirmed by Klutch Sports CEO, Rich Paul, and agent Brandon Cavanaugh.

At just 23 years old, Bazley brings a promising set of skills to the Nets, providing them with an exciting option to bolster their frontcourt rotation. During the most recent NBA season, Bazley found himself traded to the Phoenix Suns in February, where he got a chance to feature in seven regular-season games. This move came as part of the Suns’ acquisition, with the team sending Dario Saric and a 2029 second-round pick in exchange for Bazley.

Having been selected as the 23rd overall pick in the 2019 NBA draft, Bazley has consistently shown improvement in his performance. In the 2020-2021 season, he achieved a career-high average of 13.7 points and 7.2 assists over the span of 55 games, truly displaying his potential as a valuable player. Throughout his four seasons in the NBA, Bazley has maintained respectable averages of 9.1 points and 5.3 rebounds.

Interestingly, Bazley initially committed to playing for Syracuse after graduating high school in Massachusetts. However, he opted for a different path, choosing to dedicate a year to intense training in preparation for the 2019 NBA draft. During this time, he attracted attention for a unique and innovative partnership with his shoe endorser, New Balance, participating in an internship program with the company.

The addition of Darius Bazley is part of the Nets’ broader strategy to strengthen their roster. The team has been proactive in free agency, securing the services of other talented players such as small forward Lonnie Walker IV and guard Dennis Smith Jr. With these acquisitions, the Nets are positioning themselves as strong contenders for the upcoming NBA season.

As Bazley embarks on this new chapter of his career with the Brooklyn Nets, he will have an excellent opportunity to further develop his skills and contribute significantly to the team’s success. The Nets’ frontcourt rotation will undoubtedly benefit from his presence, and fans can look forward to witnessing his growth as a player.
