The star was raised in Jos, a city located in the Middle Belt of Nigeria and is the administrative capital of Plateau State. The state is best known for its national administration and commercial and tourist centres.
Ogenyi began playing soccer in the streets of Jos and as a result of his foot skills, several soccer scouts were attracted; that way, he got an opportunity to play in some academies.
He then moved to Lagos City to play for a team founded by a Nigerian pastor, aiming to promote young talented players. It was known as ‘My people’.

Career
Onazi began playing in the streets of Jos and later moved to Lagos where he got opportunities to play in some academies. He became popular on joining My People.
The player joined Lazio alongside his teammate Sani Emmanuel and they had their trial in England, Greece and Italy after appearing for Nigeria at the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
After appearing at the youth level, Onazi was promoted to the senior team where he played as a defensive midfielder. His performance at the club was extremely good and they offered him a two-year contract extension.
After the contract expired at Lazio, he moved to club Trabzonspor at a reported fee of $3.8 million and after four years at the club, he joined Denizlispor, a Turkish to-tier football league club on a free transfer.
However, it was said that Onazi and the club reached an agreement for a six-month contract with an option for a further year.
Another time to join the Danish Superliga team SonderjysKe. He joined the club on a deal for one season with an option to extend it for two more years. The club released him three months after his arrival.
Onazi signed for Lithuanian champions Zalgiris and during his stay, he played 19 matches and scored two goals.

He returned to Denizlispor and a few months later moved to AL-Adalah then to the Italian club Casertana After six years. These contracts have seen his net worth grow in a big way.
Onazi represented his country at the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup where Nigeria finished runners-up and was part of the squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
