Speaking after the match, Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel said his side gained a bit of confidence which will help them in the remaining two fixtures.

“This win gives us a good atmosphere for the next two matches. We created chances from the start but there is no need to be euphoric. It was a good performance and the next step in the right direction. We gained a bit of confidence and that helps us. We created many chances, scored many goals and that makes us feel good. Now we need to carry this energy into the next week.” ESPN quotes Thomas Tuchel.

Bayern Munich are on 68 points, just one above Borussia Dortmund who thrashed Borussia Monchengladbach 5-2 later on Saturday.

Whereas Bayern are drawing closer to winning another Bundesliga title, Schalke 04 are firmly in the relegation zone.

How Bayern Munich Beat Schalke 04

With Borussia Dortmund not playing until later on Saturday, Bayern Munich had an earlier opportunity to increase their lead on the standings to four points. The hosts started on the front foot and came close to scoring a few minutes into the game but Jamal Musiala’s effort went wide.

However, it didn’t take long before Thomas Muller curled in with his weaker left foot after receiving a pass from Leroy Sane.

Cedric Brunner fouled Jamal Musiala in the box, creating a big opportunity for Bayern to double their lead. With Joshua Kimmich stepping forward to take the penalty, the outcome was never in doubt. The German midfielder sent Alexander Schwolow the wrong way to put Bayern 2-0 up.

Schalke 04 did not concede another goal for the remainder of the first half but they were in trouble again in the 50th minute as Serge Gnabry found his first of the day. Joao Cancelo’s pass found Gnabry who worked himself a yard before finding the back of the net.

Fifteen minutes later, the 27-year-old forward found himself in the danger area again and showed his brilliance with a classy finish. Thomas Tuchel was impressed with Gnabry’s performance. Gnabry, who is naturally a winger, has been operating as Bayern Munich’s No. 9 in Choupo-Moting’s absence.

“He [Serge Gnabry] needed rhythm, game time and a bit of luck. It’s good and important because only goals help strikers. I’m happy with him.” Thomas Tuchel praised Gnabry, as per Get German Football News.

Bayern Munich added more misery upon Schalke 04 with two late goals from Mathys Tel and Noussair Mazraoui.
