Early life

On March 21, 1991, Antoine Griezmann was born in Macon, France. Antoine Griezmann was exposed to football at an early age by his football-loving father. Griezmann began playing football when he was four years old and joined his first team, UF Maconnais when he was six.

Dyslexia caused Griezmann to have academic difficulties. He ultimately quit school when he was 14 years old to concentrate on his football career. After his family relocated to Spain, he enrolled in Real Sociedad’s youth program.

Griezmann started playing professionally in 2009 with Real Sociedad. At the age of 18, he made his club debut against Rayo Vallecano in a Copa del Rey game in September 2009. A couple of months later, in a match against Espanyol, he made his league debut.

Antoine soon became an important member of Real Sociedad, netting his first goal for the team against Hércules in October 2010. He played a significant part in the team’s success in the top division, assisting them to qualify for the UEFA Champions League in the 2013–2014 season. He also assisted the squad in winning promotion to La Liga in the 2010–2011 season.

Atletico Madrid acquired Griezmann in 2014 for a rumored sum of €30 million. He made his club debut in August 2014, and due to his standout on-field performances, he rapidly won over the fans. Griezmann won the Man of the Match award in the title match game against Croatia after tallying four goals during the competition, including two against Belgium in the semi-final.
