Early life
In the northern French city of Lyon, Alexandre Lacazette was born on May 28, 1991.
The youngest of the four brothers, Lacazette started out playing for a Swiss club’s second division before moving on to a French club’s fourth division. At the age of seven, he started playing out at the neighborhood club Elan Sportif. In 1998, he started training for ELCS Lyon and eventually made it to their senior squad.
In 2012, he won the Coupe de France and the Trophée des Champions for Lyon. He is well known for his dribbling, pace, ambidexterity, and willingness to press and tackle even when he doesn’t have the ball.

He joined the senior tier of the Lyon B club in 2008, and by 2010, he had arrived in Lyon. For seven years, he worked for the club. In a home game against Sochaux, he netted his first goal for the squad.
He made his Arsenal debut in 2017, and Lyon received the highest sale price it had ever received when he was sold to Arsenal—a total of €60 million. In the 2017 FA Community Shield matchup with Chelsea, he made his debut.
Lacazette scored the squad’s second goal and his fourteenth league goal of the season in Arsène Wenger’s final home game, a 5-0 demolition of Burnley. Lacazette also provided an assist for the team’s first goal.

After Arsene Wenger’s departure, Lacazette was demoted to the bench by new manager Unai Emery, limiting him to substitute appearances.
On August 17, 2019, Lacazette scored in Arsenal’s 2-1 victory over Burnley in the team’s home debut, which was his first goal of the 2019–20 campaign. As Arsenal won their 14th FA Cup on August 1, 2020, Lacazette got the call to start against Chelsea in the FA Cup Final.
After his contract expired on June 30, 2022, Arsenal confirmed on June 3 that Lacazette would be leaving the team.
Lacazette signed a three-year contract with Lyon on June 9, 2022, and made his way back to the city. On August 5, 2022, in a 2-1 victory at home against Ajaccio, he scored the club’s first goal from the penalty spot. On March 10, 2023, Lacazette tied for the second-highest goal scorer in Lyon history with a late brace against Lille in a 3-3 draw.

Lacazette has played for all of France’s Youth Teams from the U16s to the U20s.
He was added to the 21-man team on June 10, 2011, in time to compete in the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup finals. On July 30, 2011, against the host nation Colombia, he made his competition debut as a substitute in France’s opening Group A encounter. In the team’s subsequent Group A match against South Korea, Lacazette once more made an appearance as a substitute and netted the game’s final goal (in second-half injury time), leading France to a 3-1 victory. In France’s 2-0 victory against Mali in their final Group A encounter, he scored one goal.
Lacazette scored one goal against Mexico in the third-place game and two goals against Nigeria in the quarterfinal victory. With 5 goals, he finished tied for the tournament’s highest scorer.
