Tottenham Hotspur put on a spirited fight last night to complete a fine comeback against Man Utd at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Jadon Sancho opened the scoring for Manchester United less than 10 minutes into the game. Marcus Rashford then doubled the visitors lead to put them in a commanding position at half-time.

2-0 up against Tottenham Hotspur, it looked like Erik ten Hag’s men were coasting to a fourth straight Premier League win. However, the hosts did not relax after the restart as they came forward in numbers to attack. Pedro Porro’s goal in the 56th minute boosted the morale of players before Son Heung-min levelled the scores from close range.
The draw was a delight for the home fans who were already calling for chairman Daniel Levy to go. It was also a good sign for Ryan Mason, who is Tottenham Hotspur’s interim boss.
Speaking after the game, Ryan Mason praised his team for showing good character throughout the match.
“Big character, big personality, stuck together, kept believing, acted as a team throughout the whole game. That pleases me after what happened at the weekend because we probably didn’t have that as a group. I felt like, once we scored the second, the lads had invested so much energy that we went a little bit flat.” Sky Sports quotes Ryan Mason.
How The Game Unfolded
Man Utd travelled to London on Thursday night to face Tottenham Hotspur in search of a fourth straight Premier League win. And within no time the visitors were already on the scoresheet, thanks to Jadon Sancho’s goal. Rashford was left in the space to pick up the ball between lines before overcoming two Spurs defenders. He then passed the ball to Sancho, who tested the defense before curling home a brilliant finish. The goal was Manchester United’s first attack.
Tottenham Hotspur created chances afterwards but were not clinical enough in front of goal. Richarlison shot too close to Manchester United’s keeper David de Gea before squandering another chance by trying a cut-back when in a position to shoot.
Manchester United came close to doubling their lead but Sancho’s deflected shot was headed off the line by Ivan Perisic. Towards the end of the first half, Bruno Fernandes’ long pass found Marcus Rashford who outpaced Eric Dier before slotting the ball past the goalkeeper.
Spurs fans were already shouting ‘Levy out’ before Pedro Porro’s goal gave them a reason to celebrate. Pedro took his goal superbly. Manchester United almost responded immediately but Bruno Fernandes hit the underside of the bar when he should have scored.
Afterwards, Tottenham Hotspur created several chances but were unable to convert. Eventually, Son forced home an equalizer in the 79th minute to give Tottenham Hotspur the draw they deserved for their improved performance in the second half.
