  • Celta Vigo midfielder Gabriel Veiga has attracted interest from big clubs across Europe
  • Such clubs include Premier League rivals Manchester City and Liverpool as well as Napoli and Milan
  • The midfielder’s low release clause will play a big role in his exit in the summer transfer window

Due to his low release clause, heavyweight teams such as Manchester City, Liverpool, Napoli, and Milan are reportedly keeping a close eye on Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga.

Veiga, 20, is having the best season of his short career, forcing his way into manager Carlos Carvahal’s starting lineup.

Veiga, who mostly plays as an offensive midfielder, has nine goals in 26 La Liga matches, gaining his first call-up to the Spain Under-21 team along the road.

His performance in one of the world’s best divisions has piqued the interest of midfielder-hungry Champions League clubs, with his release clause giving a more cheap alternative to some of the other elite central midfielders available in the forthcoming transfer window.

Veiga is claimed to have a €40 million (£35 million) release clause, which has piqued the interest of Manchester United, City, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Napoli, and Milan, according to Galician publication Atlantico.

According to the source, Celta Vigo is ready for a big club to arrive in the off-season and activate that provision, and they will not budge or negotiate a lower sum.

The development of Veiga presents another alternative for clubs interested in Brighton and Hove Albion’s 21-year-old Moises Caicedo, who is thought to be worth over £80 million, or Borussia Dortmund’s £100 million-plus prodigy Jude Bellingham.

Transfer Round-up

According to the Guardian, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United are the frontrunners for 24-year-old Brighton and Argentina midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, with the player’s father, Carlos, saying: “It is most likely that Alexis will already be playing in another team next July.”

According to Foot Mercato, Nice are looking to receive a €60 million (£53 million) fee for 22-year-old midfielder Khephren Thuram, with PSG, Dortmund, Liverpool, and City all rumoured to be interested in the France international.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Roma is in advanced talks with 24-year-old Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar, whose contract expires in a few months, but they will face competition from Real Betis and Eintracht Frankfurt.
