Early life
Ziyech was born in the peaceful Dutch town of Dronten, which has a population of about 40,000.
His mother is Moroccan, and he is the youngest of eight children. His father was Dutch.
Ziyech first played football with his brothers on the streets at dusk when he was five years old.
Club career
By the time he was 14 years old, Ziyech was certain that he wanted nothing more than to play professional football.
He had his big break in 2008 when he joined SC Heerenveen but was still wounded by the death of his father.
Ziyech quickly made it into the Heerenveen first squad with the aid of mentor Aziz Doufikar, the first Moroccan footballer to play in Holland.
He helped Ziyech advance his career after quitting school at age 16 and became the father figure Ziyech yearned for.
Ziyech advanced through the ranks at Heerenveen with Doufikar in his ear before being given his debut against NEC Nijmegen in 2012.
Within two years, he was on to bigger and better things – joining FC Twente in 2014 on a three-year contract, where he was handed the No10 shirt.
Transfer to Ajax

Ziyech’s progress delighted Ajax, who paid an estimated £10 million for the attacking midfielder in 2016.
He demonstrated his ability to play for a major club.
Ziyech contributed to the Amsterdam team’s success by helping them reach the Europa League final during his first year with them. His chances of winning a first European champions medal were dashed by a 2-0 loss to Manchester United.
Ajax’s second season with him was far less exciting as the team struggled in Europe and failed to win any trophies.
Ziyech’s third season in Amsterdam, however, brought about a shift. On their way to the semifinals, the team went on a remarkable Champions League run, defeating Juventus, Real Madrid, and Dynamo Kyiv. Ziyech had Tottenham Hotspur in his path, but despite his first-leg assist and second-leg goal, the English won.

The player signed a five-year deal with the team, and on October 17, 2020, he made his debut by coming off the bench in a 3-3 draw with Southampton.

Ziyech, a Moroccan-born Dutch citizen, was eligible to represent either the Netherlands or Morocco at the international level. He competed for the under-19, under-20, and under-21 Dutch national youth teams. At the senior level, he chose to play for Morocco.
Ziyech declared in September 2015 that he has made the decision to represent Morocco internationally. On October 9, Ziyech made his first appearance for the national team in a 1-0 loss to the Ivory Coast.
At the age of 28, Ziyech revealed his retirement from international football on February 8, 2022. He and Halilhodi had a falling out over Halilhodi’s allegations that Ziyech had faked an injury. Halilhodi’s request to play for Morocco in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification – CAF Third Round match against the Democratic Republic of the Congo was declined by both Ziyech and his Moroccan colleague Noussair Mazraoui on March 13, 2022, reinforcing his decision to retire internationally. Ziyech revoked his resignation and re-joined the national squad after Halilhodi was fired and Walid Regragui was appointed. Ziyech performed brilliantly as Morocco moved to the 2022 World Cup semifinals, scoring two goals and contributing an assist.
