It’s finally happening, boxing fans. The long awaited Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia bout is set to take place on April 22, in Las Vegas.
The fight was reportedly on the brink of collapse barely three weeks ago as the parties failed to agree over control of a hypothetical rematch. However, contracts were eventually signed last week after a long, laborious struggle.

Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia had been planned for April 15, but was pushed back one week so that negotiations could take place. The only thing that was left was finalizing the broadcast agreement between DAZN and Showtime. ESPN reports that it has been agreed Showtime PPV will broadcast the 136-pound catchweight fight.
Both Gervonta Davis, 28, and Ryan Garcia, 24, had made an announcements on Instagram in November last year that they will meet in 2023. However, they didn’t mention the exact date or the venue.
According to sources, Davis will earn slightly more than Garcia and is the betting favourite. He is also the only one who can exercise the rematch clause if he ends up losing.
The only major thing which is yet to be agreed upon now is the venue of the fight. MGM Grand Garden Arena and T-Mobile Arena are the primary options for the fight’s venue. However, reports indicate that the promoters are also weighing in on the possibility of bringing the fight to Las Vegas Raiders’ Allegiant Stadium.
This will be a superfight, one of the biggest boxing matches we will see in 2023. Both boxers are young, talented, undefeated in the ring and have a massive following. Davis has a pro boxing record of (28-0, 26 KO) whereas his opponent Ryan Garcia boasts (23-0, 19 KO).
Meanwhile, Wiliam Zepeda and Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis haven been booked in a support role on the undercard of Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia fight. This undercard fight was reported by Salvador Rodriguez of ESPN Knockout. Wiliam has a pro boxing record of (27-0, 23 KOs) whereas Ennis boasts (30-0, 27 KOs).

Gervonta Davis is the favourite to winning the fight. The 28-year-old from Baltimore recently defeated Hector Luis Garcia via TKO in the ninth round in preparation for his fight with Garcia. Before defeating Luis Garcia, he had recorded victories over Isaac Cruz and Rolly Romero.
Ryan Garcia, on the other hands, is a tough opponent who cannot be underrated in this coming fight. The 24-year-old is known for his lightning-quick hands. He didn’t fight for the rest of 2021 after scoring a career-best win in January by surviving a knockout to defeat Luke Campbell.
Garcia was to face Mercito Gesta in January but he bypassed the bout as his main aim is fighting Davis.
