Ex-Burnley boss Sean Dyche has been appointed as the new Everton manager. He replaces Frank Lampard, who parted ways with Everton after the 2-0 loss to West Ham.

Sean Dyche joins the Premier League club on a two-and-a-half-year contract, which expires in June 2025. The England international will be in charge of the Toffees when they face host Arsenal at Goodison Park.

Former Nottingham Forest winger Ian Woan will support Sean Dyche as the assistant manager. The two previously worked together at Burnley.

Former Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa was also a contender for the managerial position and even held meetings with Everton.

However, it was Sean Dyche who was deemed fit for the job. The England international is the seventh managerial appointment Everton owner Farhad Moshiri has made since buying the club in 2016.

Speaking of Sean Dyche, Everton Chairman Bill Kenwright said that the 51-year-old has the right attributes to be a great manager of the Merseyside club.

“Kevin and I spent some valuable time with Sean over the past few days, and he quickly convinced me that he has exactly the right attributes to make himself a great Everton manager – and a man who could inspire our fanbase. And Farhad felt the same when he met him, too.” Bill Kenwright said, as per Everton’s official website

Dyche has a big task ahead of him, as Everton are currently in the relegation zone. They are 19th on the Premier League table, above Southampton on goal difference.

Everton’s next Premier League fixture is against Arsenal, who are on top of the Premier League table. They will then face Liverpool in the Merseyside derby on February 13.

Dyche is aware of the challenge awaiting him and is ready to get Everton back on track. Everton have 18 games remaining before the end of the 2022-23 Premier League season.

Dyche joins Everton hours after Anthony Gordon‘s departure.

“It’s an honour to become Everton manager… I know about Everton’s passionate fanbase and how precious this club is to them. We’re ready to work and ready to give them what they want. That starts with sweat on the shirt, effort and getting back to some of the basic principles of what Everton Football Club has stood for a long time.” Sean Dyche told Everton’s website.

Sean Dyche previously worked as Burnley’s manager for ten years. He was sacked last season with eight games to go, leaving the club in a relegation fight.

Dyche had enjoyed a great time with Burnley, who are now playing in the Championship this season after being relegated. He kept them in the Premier League for six straight seasons and even took them to the 2018-19 Europa League play-offs.
