- Wolves stunned Chelsea at Stamford Bridge to draw 2-2 in the Premier League
- The visitors went 2-0 down courtesy of Romelu Lukaku but the best of the match was reserved for the stoppage time
- Wolves scored 11 minutes from the 90th minute and then equalised in the seventh minute of added time
Conor Coady netted with almost the last touch of the game as Wolves fought back to draw 2-2 with Chelsea on the day a £4.25billion sale of the Blues was agreed.
Todd Boehly, the man who leads the consortium that will complete a takeover later this month, was in attendance at Stamford Bridge as Romelu Lukaku scored his first Premier League goals since a 1-1 draw with Brighton and Hove Albion on December 29 to put the hosts 2-0 up before the hour mark.
Substitute Trinaco set up a dramatic finale of the match, though, with a staggering goal 11 minutes from full-time.
Coady then popped up in the seventh minute of stoppage time to head home substitute Chiquinho’s cross and seal the most unlikely of points for the visitors.
Timo Werner thought he had given Chelsea the lead shortly after the half-hour mark, yet his strike was ruled out for a push on Romain Saiss.
The Blues were denied again seven minutes before the interval when Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s close-range finish was chalked off for offside following a lengthy VAR review.
Lukaku put the hosts ahead in the 56th minute, the Belgium international slotting home from the spot after he had been brought down in the area by Saiss.
His second came just 138 seconds later courtesy of a whipped strike from 20 yards after he had been played in by Christian Pulisic’s pass.

Trincao thundered a wonderful strike into Edouard Mendy’s top-right corner from just outside the area in the 79th minute to reduce the deficit.
Coady then sent the travelling supporters into raptures with a close-range header deep into added time.
Chelsea looked to be cruising to all three points after Lukaku’s quickfire brace, but Wolves powered back to end a run of three straight league defeats in dramatic fashion.
Coady’s goal was Wolves’ second-latest in the Premier League since Opta have exact times available (from 2006-07), after Raul Jimenez against Burnley in August 2019 (96:55). It was also Chelsea’s second-latest conceded in this time, after Luis Suarez for Liverpool in April 2013 (96:30).
It has been a hugely disappointing return to Stamford Bridge for Lukaku, but he looked sharp here and was rewarded with his first Premier League goals of 2022. That double means he is now Chelsea’s outright top scorer in all competitions this season with 14 goals.
He had an effort ruled out for offside in the first half, yet Loftus-Cheek will be disappointed with his attacking output. Aside from that attempt, the England international failed to have a single shot and did not make a key pass to a teammate.
Both sides are in Premier League action again on Wednesday, with Chelsea away to Leeds United and Wolves hosting title-chasing Manchester City.
