Gor Mahia and Tusker FC’s match at the Thika Sub-County Stadium on Saturday evening ended in controversy after centre referee Anthony Ogwayo awarded, then rescinded his decision after pressure, attracting furious protests from the Tusker technical bench.

Jackson Macharia had scored a 94th minute winner, slapping a low shot into the net after the keeper had spilled a cross from the right.

Gor Mahia players protested that the keeper had been injured in the process, with fans in the stands in turn throwing objects into the pitch, creating a stoppage.

With things calmed down and the game cleared to go on, the referee surprisingly gave a freekick, creating more chaos as Tusker players protested the decision and protested to walk off.

It created a whole new mess, officials from both sides stormed into the pitch as the situation escalated. The referee then whistled off the game, with the match commissioner informing that the game’s final result would be 0-0, the score before Tusker’s goal.

Just five minutes before, Gor Mahia’s Austin Odhiambo had tapped the ball home from close range, but the linesman whistled for offside.
